Building Sales Momentum for a Mountain Favorite
Case Study: MOUNTAIN HOUSE
Building Sales Momentum for a Mountain Favorite
Mountain House is the freeze-dried meal category leader, but ownership doesn't equal repeat purchase. With a 30-year shelf life and a premium price tag, the brand’s products had a built-in ceiling: shoppers often bought once for a camping trip or an emergency kit. Our job was to give them reasons to come back.

INSIGHT
As ad revenue shrinks and platform traffic grows less reliable, publishers are leaning into affiliate partnerships to earn directly from the products they feature, which makes commerce-friendly brands especially appealing brands to highlight.
SOLUTION
We built a thematically driven affiliate program designed for year-round relevance, placing Mountain House on the platforms that matter and pitching editors on commerce stories where the brand earned its spot, not as filler, but as the answer. Wildfire season, hurricane prep, thru-hiking guides, backcountry gift lists: every season became a sales window.
RESULTS
Following integration on affiliate platforms and targeted media pitching to writers spanning outdoor, lifestyle, and preparedness, the program:
- Drove $450K+ in gross sales
- Secured 2B+ potential media impressions (including syndications)
- Generated earned affiliate coverage in target media outlets including Men’s Health, Buzzfeed, Conde Nast Traveler and Backpacker Magazine
